As you probably know all too well, there are hundreds of diet programs, but which are the good diets that work well, and are there fad diets that work well too? Right from the beginning, we’re not going to be looking at diets that involve drugs or pills, since this is not the healthiest plan to use. What we are going to be considering are plans that involve a way of eating for life. Yes, you can eat to lose weight, and that is the objective here.

First of all, let’s consider the human body, and compare it to that of a car. If you fill your car with milk instead of gasoline, the chances are that it will not run very well if at all, since it has been built to run on gasoline. The same is true of the human body, it has not evolved to run on junk food, no matter how much we would like that. It expects to get certain nutrients on a daily basis, and if it doesn’t get them, well, things go wrong.

So, what are some good diets that work really well? One diet that is receiving great reviews at present is the food combining diet, although perhaps it is better to say food combining way of eating. It involves not so much a diet as a different way of eating, and it has produced some spectacular results both in terms of weight loss and health benefits.

One of the main differences with food combining is that fruits are never eaten with anything other than fruit. This is because of the way the body processes fruit, and it is much easier for the stomach to digest foods of the same kind, so eat all your fruit at one sitting, maybe as a breakfast, or a lunch, or even as a mid afternoon snack. It is healthy for you, and you may find that your body tolerates foods that it didn’t before as a result of eating this way. I know it has for me.

There are foods that you are encouraged to eat, like oatmeal, legumes or pulses as they are also called (dried beans, peas and lentils), and of course fresh vegetables. Those same foods are encouraged to help lower cholesterol, and play a part in a diet called the Zone.

For years now the Zone diet has got a lot of coverage, and for good reason. It is basically a balanced diet, that contains all the right food groups, (and no, junk food is not one of those!), with portion sizes that are not excessive. More than this, it encourages balanced meals, meaning that at each meal you eat a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats.

You count the food you eat on the Zone diet in terms of blocks of protein, carbohydrates and fats, having the same number of each at each meal, usually 3 or 4, and each block contains a certain number of grams of food. It can be rather off putting trying to figure out what amounts you should be eating, but it is a very healthy diet, and it does produce good weight loss, provided you do not over eat.

Both of the diets mentioned above give great customer satisfaction.

I’ve tried them both, and they do work very well for weight loss, maintaining good health while losing pounds. Yes, they are two good diets that work well for every one, but you have to try them yourself to succeed yourself.

What Is The 1200 Calorie Diet?

First of all, what is it about the 1200 calorie diet, and what is it about it that makes it so popular? Well, the 1200 calorie diet is a balanced diet, containing the proteins, carbohydrates and fats that your body needs to maintain its health. In some ways it is very similar to the Zone diet, as it promotes eating each of proteins, carbohydrates and fats every time you eat. So for example, lunch might be a turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato, followed by an orange. The turkey and cheese provide the protein, the low calorie bread the carbohydrates as well as the tomato and lettuce and orange, and the cheese provides the fat.

However, this diet does involve the counting of calories, so that you try to keep to 1200 each day. Now, different people need different numbers of calories, so before reducing yours, you should really check with your doctor first to make sure that this is a safe number for you to consume. You may find that because of your metabolism you need more calories each day to stay healthy and at a good weight for you.

Now, this 1200 calorie diet plan is good, although as mentioned, it may not be 1200 calories you need. Not only do you reduce your intake of food, but you eat a balanced diet, that is good for you, but also one that doesn’t leave you hungry. You are encouraged to eat small meals so that this enables you to eat a mid-morning snack, as well as a mid-afternoon snack, and a small snack in the evening.

Because your blood sugar is kept on a pretty even keel with this method of eating balanced foods each time, there are none of the intense hunger pangs that other diets have, and it is a much easier diet to maintain long term. In other words, it is a way of eating, more than a diet plan, and as such is more likely to succeed.

This diet encourages drinking plenty of water, but this is probably nothing new for you as most diets encourage this to flush out toxins, keep the bowels regular, and the bladder too. So, to conclude, balance your meals and snacks, by having good proteins, carbohydrates and fats for each meal or snack, and you will lose weight with this 1200 calorie diet.

One of the many diets out there is the water diet, and the good thing about this is that, besides water being so readily available to most people, and it being so cheap, this water diet complements other good diets that work well.

So, how much water do you need to drink? This diet encourages you to drink 64 fluid ounces of water every day, and it can be tap water, or bottled water, as long as it doesn’t have anything added to it and it is 50 degrees or cooler in temperature. The temperature of the water is an important factor here, because this is going to burn up some calories, not a lot, but hey, every calorie lost helps with that weight loss.

Now, the 64 ounces of water you need to drink should be taken over the course of a day, not all at once, so that equates to 8 glasses of water if the glass is an 8 ounce size. Now, an eight ounce glass is just one cup or half a pint, or 250 ml, which isn’t a great amount, but how this water diet works is that because the water is cold, remember it is 50 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, and the body is normally 98.6 degrees, then the body has to work to raise the temperature of the water so that it reaches the same temperature as the rest of the body. In doing this, the body uses energy, and if the rest of your diet doesn’t change at all, then you have just used up some calories that you will not replace. In other words, you have lost weight. Now do be aware that it takes about 12 calories to raise the temperature of 2 cups of water, so we are not talking about a huge number of calories here, but every few help, right?

On the other hand, maybe you could cut out that extra cookie, or walk an extra block every day, and you will use up more energy, but this water diet can be used along with other diets designed to lose weight, and as water is always said to be good for you anyway, it certainly shouldn’t hurt you.

So, if you are planning to lose weight, or you already are on a diet program, then you could add in the water diet and see whether it makes a difference to your weight loss, or to how you are feeling.
