First of all, let’s consider the human body, and compare it to that of a car. If you fill your car with milk instead of gasoline, the chances are that it will not run very well if at all, since it has been built to run on gasoline. The same is true of the human body, it has not evolved to run on junk food, no matter how much we would like that. It expects to get certain nutrients on a daily basis, and if it doesn’t get them, well, things go wrong.
So, what are some good diets that work really well? One diet that is receiving great reviews at present is the food combining diet, although perhaps it is better to say food combining way of eating. It involves not so much a diet as a different way of eating, and it has produced some spectacular results both in terms of weight loss and health benefits.
One of the main differences with food combining is that fruits are never eaten with anything other than fruit. This is because of the way the body processes fruit, and it is much easier for the stomach to digest foods of the same kind, so eat all your fruit at one sitting, maybe as a breakfast, or a lunch, or even as a mid afternoon snack. It is healthy for you, and you may find that your body tolerates foods that it didn’t before as a result of eating this way. I know it has for me.
There are foods that you are encouraged to eat, like oatmeal, legumes or pulses as they are also called (dried beans, peas and lentils), and of course fresh vegetables. Those same foods are encouraged to help lower cholesterol, and play a part in a diet called the Zone.
For years now the Zone diet has got a lot of coverage, and for good reason. It is basically a balanced diet, that contains all the right food groups, (and no, junk food is not one of those!), with portion sizes that are not excessive. More than this, it encourages balanced meals, meaning that at each meal you eat a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats.
You count the food you eat on the Zone diet in terms of blocks of protein, carbohydrates and fats, having the same number of each at each meal, usually 3 or 4, and each block contains a certain number of grams of food. It can be rather off putting trying to figure out what amounts you should be eating, but it is a very healthy diet, and it does produce good weight loss, provided you do not over eat.
Both of the diets mentioned above give great customer satisfaction.
I’ve tried them both, and they do work very well for weight loss, maintaining good health while losing pounds. Yes, they are two good diets that work well for every one, but you have to try them yourself to succeed yourself.
